Lake Asturias

Lake Asturias is a very small man-made lake in Nicaragua, a little more than 1 square mile, that feeds into the much larger Lake Apanas. The lake was created in 1985 when the El Dorado Dam was created. The El Dorado Dam pumps water into Lake Apanas which then feeds a hydroelectric power plant.

Although Lake Asturias is very small compared to Lake Apanas, some locals prefer the fishing at Lake Asturias, especially fishing for rainbow bass and jaguar guapote.
