Granada Cathedral, also known as the Catedral de Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion (Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption), is a Catholic church located in the heart of the city of Granada Nicaragua in the main tourist area of the city. It is across the street from Parque Colon (Central Park) on the eastern side of the park on Guzman Avenue. The city of Granada is known for its beautiful architecture and the Granada Cathedral is a great representation of the city's Spanish colonial style and flavor.
The cathedral was built in 1583, but has been badly damaged and rebuilt several times with the most recent reconstruction in 1915. Granada Cathedral is usually open from 8am to 8pm daily and is free to get into. It is also easy to use as a landmark for navigating the city.
